In 1998 the racing engines roared again on the Bremgarten circuit for the first time in 44 years. On Sunday 5 July 1998 racing cars and motorcycles took to the track in seven fields. Tens of thousands of enthusiastic spectators admired the historic cars and motorcycles which loudly celebrated their exciting revival.
Some of the vehicles had already lined up between 1934 and 1954 when the race was one of the most important in Europe. The stars of the day such as Geoff Duke of Great Britain and the Swiss racers Luigi Taveri and Hano Wirz drove and joined in the celebrations. Many of the drivers from the period have long since passed away. Nevertheless their cars are now looked after by collectors and museums and are brought out for such events. The centre point of the event was the drivers enclosure where the around 100 cars and over 50 motorcycles were prepared.
